Text Box: JANUARY DINNER MEETING:   Our dinner was pot luck, and I want to thank you ladies of the Auxiliary for contributing such a wonderful selection of entrees, salads, and desserts.  I also want to commend the Men of the FRA who are showing us some of their culinary skills.  Keep it up.  Hope we see more of what you can do.   A POT LUCK actually means that all who attend bring something to share.  Now is your chance men!!!
MEETING:  Since our President, Rosemary Hoffower was out of town, our Vice President, Kathy Blanton conducted the meeting.  We discussed our upcoming nominations in April which is just around the corner ladies, and you all need to think about stepping up and holding an office.  All offices will be open, which means the Unit will need to elect a President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer.  If this does not happen, the Unit will not be able to continue  and we will have to give up our Charter.  Please do not wait until it is too late.  Take a chance and step up to the plate. Our newest member, Jan McCormick, has offered to do our Americanism reports each month, thank you Jan.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS: Please keep in mind those who are really under the weather and have not been able to attend our meetings like Bonnie Gedling, Karen Webster, Eileen Hunton, and Phyllis Jones. We miss seeing your smiling faces. Wishing you lots of rainbows and sunshine and we all hope to see you soon!
CONDOLENCES:  A Memorial service was held for Vi Pruitt in Milpitas in December.  Bonnie Gedling and Kathy Blanton represented Unit 101.  Helen Reese lost her youngest son Gary in December, and our heartfelt  condolences go out to both families in this time of great loss.   If there is anything we can do as a Unit or on a personal basis, please do not hesitate to give any of the officers a call.
BIRTHDAYS:  We celebrated 3 birthdays in January.  Phyllis Jones (was unable to attend because of illness), Jan McCormick, and Helen Hymes.  We sang Happy birthday, blew out our birthday candle, and each received a lovely blooming plant.  Many more years of good health to all of you.
ESSAY READING:  Out of the 13 who helped read the 389 essays for the FRA sponsored contest we wish to thank the ladies of the Auxiliary:   Jan McCormick, Marion Pava, Jeanette Flowers, and Kathy Blanton.  Readings started at 9:00 a.m. on the 14th of January, and finished at 1:00 p.m. same day, non stop. Wow, now that’s what I call stepping up to the plate.
CHINESE & TET VIENAMESE NEW YEAR:    January 23 was the beginning of the Chinese New Year, and the TET Vietnamese New year (Year of the Dragon).  To all who celebrate these special days, Happy New Year?  A traditional Red Envelope containing a gold coin representing good health, prosperity, and happiness in this new year, was given to each member in attendance.
ATTENDANCE DRAWING:  Dolores Van Sambeek’s name was drawn for the $50.00 but was not in attendance, so the $5.00 consolation prize went to Erma Schriver.  Jeanette Flowers won the $20.00 Attendance Incentive prize. Congratulations to all of our winners.
FEBRUARY MENU: The Branch will be providing the menu for February.  Ladies and Men bring APPETIZERS AND DESSERTS.   We celebrate Valentine’s Day on the 14’th, President’s day on the 20th, and Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent, on the 22nd.  Have a good month and please keep the Branch and Unit alive by attending the meetings. This is the month of Love, hearts, and flowers, so tell someone you love them, give them some flowers and take care of your hearts by eating healthy.
FEBRUARY QUOTE:   Love isn’t what makes the world go around; love is what makes the ride worthwhile!!!
